
Monday 20 March 2017, Saint George’s Bastion-Medieval Town. An evening dedicated to the poetry of Lord Byron, the philhellene poet who loved and supported the Greek people in their struggle for freedom. A delegation from the Municipality of Vyronas attended the event: Mr. Grigoris Katopodis, mayor of Vyronas, Ms. Lemonia Klonari and Christos Spiropoulos, deputy mayors and Mr. Giorgios Ntovolos, municipal councillor, who participated in the artistic programme and chanted hymns. Keynote speaker of the event was Mr. Panos Trigazis, president of the Byron Association for Philhellenism and Culture, whose lecture was entitled “What is the importance of Lord Byron’s ideas in the 21st century”. Byron’s prose passages and poems were dramatized and set to music respectively, were performed by the actors/actresses and the members of the Zacharias Angelakos’ “Manos Katrakis” theatre workshop and directed by the actor Dimitris Papagiannis. The composer Antonis Kyzoulis composed the music and played the piano. Tuesday 21 March 2017, at 20.00, IWTCR events hall. “Cycle of Greek poets”: selected poems of important Greek writers were dramatized or read aloud with music and singing performed by the actors/actresses and members of the Zacharias Angelakos’ “Manos Katrakis” theatre workshop and by Nancy Tryposkoufi and directed by the actor Dimitris Papagiannis. The composer Antonis Kyzoulis composed the music and played the piano. Giorgios Ntovolos chanted hymns.
