On 16 November 2024, as part of the National Meeting of the Greek Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation in Komotini and within the framework of the NES-3 Cycle, a capacity-building session on Cultural Management was organised.
The session presented cultural management as an interdisciplinary and participatory process that combines the preservation of cultural heritage with contemporary cultural creation. Particular emphasis was placed on the management of both tangible and intangible heritage, as well as on the role of culture in promoting sustainability, education and social cohesion.
The discussion focused on the relationship between culture and local communities, active citizen participation, and cooperation between public and private stakeholders. Participants also explored issues such as the digitisation of cultural heritage, the development of thematic cultural routes, and the strengthening of cultural education.
A key part of the activity was a cultural route through the city, which gave participants the opportunity to see how the principles of sustainable cultural management can be applied in practice.
The session concluded with proposals for investment in modern infrastructure and technologies, stronger international cooperation, the promotion of cultural diversity, and greater youth involvement in the design and implementation of cultural initiatives.
