As part of the National Meeting of the Greek Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation and in celebration of Europe Day, the public forum “EU Goes Where? Challenges for Civil Society after the Political Shifts in the US and Europe” took place on Friday, 9 May 2025, at the ActionAid Youth Centre in Thessaloniki.
The event focused on the changing social and political landscape in the European Union and the United States and on its implications for civil society organisations. The forum aimed to highlight emerging challenges in the current geopolitical environment, underline the vital role of civil society, and encourage dialogue among organisations, young people, stakeholders, and representatives of the academic and policy communities.
Around 50 participants attended the event. The discussion featured contributions from Stefania Zourka, Panagiotis Paschalidis, Michalis Tremopoulos, and Christos Frangonikolopoulos, who brought a range of academic, political and civic perspectives to the conversation.
Through open and interactive dialogue, the forum highlighted the need for resilient and adaptable civil society structures and emphasised the importance of solidarity, democracy and transnational cooperation in responding to today’s political and social challenges.
