Biderbost, Boscan & Rochin (BB&R), in collaboration with Academy of Entrepreneurship, developed the project: "Bringing Europe closer".The project, that involved teachers and youth workers from Greece and Spain, sought two goals. First, provide knowledge and a new perspective about the EU (how it works, what agencies composed it and opportunities offered). Second, strengthen European citizenship and thus, avoid the growing of anti-Europeanism.In order to achieve this, the project developed an ambitious training programme among 16 teachers and youth workers from various parts of Greece and Spain. Through non-formal education and experience based-learning, participants learned more about the reality and procedures of 4 European institutions: European Commission, European Parliament, European Ombudsman and European Central Bank (ECB).At the same time, the participants had the opportunity to hold different meetings with European officials. First, a virtual meeting with Kostas Botopoulos, Former Member of the European Parliament. In addition to explaining the operation and the particularities of the Parliament, Botopoulos also answered questions from participants about the Brexit, terrorism, global warming, TTIP and other topics.Second, Eva Murciano, Director of Human Resources of the ECB, highlighted the importance of the ECB for all European citizens, and as well as the career opportunities offered by this institution. In third, the participants met with Pavlos Karadeloglou, Deputy Chief of the Division of Convergence and Competitiveness of the ECB. At this meeting the participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the ECB and its role in Europe. In addition, the project also provided a space where participants could generate a discussion about methodologies to stimulate knowledge about EU issues among the new generation of Europeans, in order to enhance their European citizenship as a way to combat anti-Europeanism. the web page of the project is: http://bringingeuropecloser.comFinally, the project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission, with the support of the Youth Institute of Spain (INJUVE) and the Youth Institute of Castilla and Leon.
