
Friday 26 May 2017, at 20.00, The Auberge of the Langue of Spain. In collaboration with the Peloponnese Association of Rhodes “O Morias” an event in honor of Thanasis Valtinos was held. Thanasis Valtinos is a renowned prose writer, academician and a former president of the Academy of Athens (the most important Greek institution for sciences, humanities and fine arts). Speakers: Giorgos Giannopoulos, former mayor of Rhodes, Kostas Scandalidis, former president of IWTCR, Angeliki Kosma, archeologist, Ephorate of Antiquities of the Dodecanese. Moderator: Nancy Tryposkoufi, head of the IWTCR. The mayor of Rhodes has handed an award plaque to the author in recognition of his service to the Modern Greek literature and of his contribution to the establishment of the International Writers and Translators’ Center of Rhodes. Thanasis Valtinos was also awarded a prize by the Peloponnese Association. The event was held under the auspices of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Dodecanese.
